Quilted Laptop Sleeve – Quilting for Beginners

Description: Ready to learn how to quilt? This course will take you through all the basics and teach you helpful tips and tricks to make your quilting journey enjoyable! This class is great for folks who have a little experience using a machine and are ready to advance their skills.

Quilting involves many steps and skills, youll learn all the basics over the course of three weeks. Well be starting smaller with our fun laptop sleeve. No laptop? No worries! Well be making a simple envelope closure pouch that you can size to fit whatever device or items you need to store.

This class meets 1x per week for 3 weeks. Please ensure you can attend all dates before registering. We will not be able to offer make up sessions.

All machines, tools, and materials provided. Just show up ready to learn and have fun

Week 1:

• Select fabric for a project

• Understand and follow a quilt pattern

• Create Half Square Triangles

Week 2:

• Best practices for accurate and efficient cutting

• Create quilt binding

• Sew an accurate seam

• Assemble a quilt slab

• Baste and create a quilt sandwich

• Machine quilt using a standard home machine

Week 3:

• Create envelope pouch

• Attach quilt binding

Classes Information:

Duration: Each session is 3.5 hours 1x per week Please note each person moves at their own pace you may finish early or a little late some sessions.Please ensure you can attend all dates before registering.We are not able to offer make ups. If you do miss a session we will do our best to help you get caught up before the next session.

Students Bring: Students do not need to bring anything, it can be helpful to have a notebook to take notes in.

Students do not need to bring a sewing machine but are welcome to bring their own as long as it is in good working condition.

Students will need to provide their own lunch or snacks for breaks. There are also several nearby convenience stores and coffee shops. We have a mini fridge and microwave available in the shop.

Materials Included with Registration: Students will select materials from our selection of Charm packs and quilting cotton yardage

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Skill Details: Students should be familiar with a sewing machine, know what seam allowance is, and have completed at least 1 project prior to taking this course.

Vibe Check: Full focus, this is an intense deep dive into all things quilting, come ready to pay attention and learn a lot.
