Properties:

This hardwearing wool blend fabric has all the qualities of wool serge that is a sturdy and stable hand, (slight ease widthwise) heavy drape quality and a fine lightly grainy textured feel. The grainy feel is attributed to the high twist yarns which produce the hardwearing qualities.

The close weave is crested in a superfine twill-like construction where the characteristic diagonals are closely stacked together. This weave produces a fabric that is crease-resistant, snag-proof, soil resistant and ultimately hard-wearing.

The slightly grainy feel of this fabric makes this versatile fabric best suited to light outerwear or layering apparel- utility style jackets, artisan aprons (French apron style –Sew Different Herba Apron, The Sienna Maker Jacket by Closet Core Patterns, unlined trench coat styles such as Ulysses Trench by Victory Patterns also unlined parka styles will look stylish yet hardwearing and edgy when made in Utility Serge.
